Wind direction matters

Ibiza's geography means wind direction changes everything. Here's what our captains know by heart:

Wind DirectionFormenteraSouth RoutesWhat We Do
North Wind (Tramuntana)
🧭 N
❌ Rough crossing✅ Perfect (Cala d'Hort, Es Vedrà, Cala Conta)South coast is protected and beautiful. Skip Formentera.
South Wind (Migjorn)
🧭 S
✅ Smooth sailing❌ Choppy anchoragesFormentera is ideal. South coast gets uncomfortable.
East Wind (Llevant)
🧭 E
⚠️ Depends on strength✅ Good optionsModerate east wind is fine. Strong wind? We'll check forecasts.
West Wind (Ponent)
🧭 W
✅ Usually calm⚠️ Check anchoragesGenerally safe. We'll choose protected spots on the day.

Real talk: If you've booked Formentera and north wind is forecast, we'll message you 24 hours ahead with options: reschedule, switch to south coast, or proceed (if you're ok with a bumpy ride). Your call.

When we say no (and why)

These conditions trigger rescheduling or alternative routes. Safety and experience come first.

Wind over 20 knots

Formentera crossing becomes uncomfortable and unsafe. We'll suggest south coast routes or reschedule.

Wave height over 1.5m

Rough seas make anchoring difficult and reduce enjoyment. We prioritize comfort and safety.

Thunderstorm forecast

Lightning near water is non-negotiable. We'll reschedule for free or offer a full refund.

Maritime warnings

If Spanish authorities issue warnings, we follow them. Your safety comes first.

Our weather policy:

  • Free rescheduling if we cancel due to weather
  • Full refund if you can't find another date
  • Real-time updates via WhatsApp up to departure
