Yacht Charter FAQ

Find answers to common questions about booking, pricing, licensing, and sailing in Ibiza and Formentera.

How much does a yacht charter cost in Ibiza? (Real examples)

Typical Formentera full day: €1,450–€1,650 all-in (boat + captain + fuel). Es Vedrà sunset: €950–€1,100 all-in. Prices include the boat, professional captain, and insurance. Fuel is estimated upfront based on your route. Optional extras like catering and water sports are quoted separately. See our pricing page for detailed breakdowns.

What's included in the price, and what costs extra?

Always included: boat, captain, insurance, itinerary planning, WhatsApp support, free weather rescheduling, backup boat guarantee. Fuel is estimated upfront (typically €150–€600 depending on route). Optional extras: catering, water sports, restaurant reservations, villa transfers.

How do you estimate fuel costs?

We estimate fuel based on your boat, route, and typical sea conditions. Formentera trips: €250–€450. Sunset cruises: €100–€250. Long-distance/high-speed: €450+. If conditions change on the day (wind, route adjustments), we'll let you know before departing. No surprise charges.

What if the weather is bad on my charter day?

We monitor forecasts 24 hours ahead. If wind is over 20 knots, waves over 1.5m, or thunderstorms are forecast, we'll contact you with options: reschedule for free, switch to a protected route (e.g., south coast instead of Formentera), or full refund. Safety and comfort come first. See our weather guide for details.

When is Formentera a bad idea (and what do you suggest instead)?

Formentera is rough when there's north wind (Tramuntana) over 15 knots—the crossing gets choppy and uncomfortable. We'll suggest the south coast route instead: Cala d'Hort, Es Vedrà, Cala Conta. It's protected, stunning, and most clients end up preferring it. We'll message you 24 hours ahead if conditions are borderline.

Do I need a boating licence?

Not for skippered charters—our captain handles everything. For bareboat charters (if available), you'll need an ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or equivalent boating licence. We focus on skippered charters for safety and flexibility.

How quickly can I book?

Tell us your date, guest count, and budget via WhatsApp. We'll send 2–3 hand-picked options (not 50+ listings) within 10 minutes—boat, captain, fuel estimate, and any extras. You can book immediately after. We curate, you decide.

Can I request a specific captain?

Yes! Many clients request the same skipper for repeat visits. Meet our captains: Carlos (family-friendly, 15 years), Miguel (fun & energetic, 12 years), Ana (VIP & luxury, 10 years), Jordi (sailing specialist, 18 years). We'll match you to the right captain for your style.

What's the best time to charter in Ibiza?

May–September offers great conditions. Peak season (July–August): warm water (24–28°C), calm seas, but book 4–6 weeks ahead. Best value: June & September—great weather, fewer crowds. May & October: quieter, cooler water (18–23°C), some Formentera places closed in October.

Can I charter for just one day?

Yes! Day charters (4–8 hours) are our specialty. We can arrange same-day bookings if boats are available. Most clients book 2–4 weeks ahead during peak season.

Where do boats depart from?

Most boats depart from Ibiza Town (Marina Botafoch) or nearby marinas. From there, you can reach Formentera (30–40 min), Es Vedrà (30 min), or the south coast beaches (15–30 min). We'll confirm exact departure location when you book.

What happens if the boat has a technical issue?

We activate our partner network and provide an equivalent or better boat at the same price. This happened twice in 2024—both times, clients got upgrades. If we can't find a replacement, full refund. You're protected.

Is yacht charter safe?

Absolutely. All boats have professional captains (10+ years experience), full insurance, and safety equipment (life jackets, emergency communication). We follow Spanish maritime regulations and only operate in safe conditions.

Can you accommodate groups and parties?

Yes! We specialize in groups from 4–12+ guests. We have DJ-friendly boats for bachelor/hen parties. But we're not for reckless parties—we protect our boats, crew, and your safety. Respect is non-negotiable.

Who is Nautiq NOT for?

We're not for bargain hunters (we optimize for experience, not lowest price), clients who ignore weather warnings, or reckless parties. We protect your day by saying no when needed. If you value experience and safety, we'd love to work with you.
